When an American says that he loves his country, he means not only that he loves the New England hills, the prairies glistening in the sun, the wide and rising plains, the great mountains, and the sea. He means that he loves an inner air, an inner light in which freedom lives and in which a man can draw the breath of self-respect. ~Adlai Stevenson

Bayfront Westcott House Bed and Breakfast was given the opportunity to organize a “St. Augustine Experience” package for a silent auction orchestrated by Wounded Warrior Project in Jacksonville, FL. The silent auction is part of the Wounded Warrior Project’s Seventh Annual Courage Awards & Benefit Dinner held in Waldorf-Astoria, New York, on May 31, 2012. This pinnacle event honors our nation’s wounded service members, their families and caregivers, and the program’s most influential supporters.

The Wounded Warrior Project mission is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history by raising awareness and enlisting the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members; helping injured service members aid and assist each other; and providing unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured our service members.

The funds raised at this year’s benefit will go to Wounded Warrior Project programs focusing on the mental health of warriors and their families as well as other programs and services such as physical health and wellness, Warriors to Work, and policy and government affairs.  Last year’s event raised over $182,000 through the auction alone.

Bayfront Westcott House B&B would like to thank everyone who so graciously helped make “The St. Augustine Experience” package possible! With their help, we were able present a package to the silent auction valued at $2000!
