Bayfront Westcott House Bed and Breakfast is proud to support The Children’s Miracle Network (founded by Marie Osmond and her family, John Schneider, Mick Shannon, and Joe Lake). The organization has grown from a televised fundraiser in a small studio in 1983 into an international nonprofit organization that generates billions of dollars each year for medical research and community awareness of children's health issues.

The goals were simple--help as many children as possible by raising funds for children’s hospitals and keep the funds in the community in which they were raised to help local children. And help the kids they have. As of 2011, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raised more than $4.3 billion—most of which was donated a dollar or two at a time.

Bayfront Westcott House Bed and Breakfast in St. Augustine, FL is thrilled to participate in Costco Wholesale’s May 2012 fundraising campaign for the Children’s Miracle Network, with proceeds going directly to Wolfson Children’s Hospital and UF & Shands Jacksonville, and Costco has promised to match a portion of all monies raised! Costco Wholesale (headquartered in Seattle) has raised more than $137 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1988.
Wolfson Children’s Hospital is a 180-bed regional referral hospital and is the only children’s hospital in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Child magazine has rated Wolfson Children’s as one of the best children’s hospitals in the United States. In addition to having comprehensive state-of-the-art clinical facilities, Wolfson Children’s Hospital has extensive partnerships with primary care physicians and pediatric subspecialists at leading research and specialty clinics in Jacksonville.

UF & Shands Jacksonville is the main teaching hospital for University of Florida providing the highest level of primary and subspecialty care for children including the area’s only Level I Trauma Center, Neonatology Level III unit, Pediatric Emergency Care and a Poison Control Center.

For those of you hesitant to make charitable donations, especially in light of all the hype surrounding recent celebrity-related scandals, it is indeed important to be aware of the reputation of any charity to which you are considering making a donation. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance helps donors make informed giving decisions and advances high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public. Coincidentally, the BBB gives Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals a 4-star rating (4 being the highest), with 89.1% of their revenue going to program expenses.

Be sure to support your local Costco in May, or better yet, donate online, even just $1, in the name of your local participating children's hospital!
